Why Hire a Copyeditor?

Language and writing is a skill like any other, much like framing a house or playing a musical instrument. With professionals specializing in their own fields of practice, the art and science of writing can take second place to more important matters of facts, data and deadlines.

The use of a technical copyeditor can be invaluable if you expect your work to be submitted for publication or for professional review. A copyeditor familiar with advanced scientific and technical subjects is particularly useful to maintain the integrity of your original work.

Every particular technical discipline as well as each individual institution has specific requirements for texts submitted for publication. I have worked with style guidelines such as American Medical Association (AMA), American Psychological Association (APA), Chicago Manual of Style and several company-proprietary style guides.

Many researchers who are fluent in spoken English but are not native English speakers also benefit from a technical copyedit of their written works. As one familiar with very advanced and technical scientific subjects, I can provide the final touch and polish necessary to ensure compliance with professional journals and commercial publishers.

Copyedit tests completed upon request.
