Clear, concise and accurate communication is essential for educational, scientific and technical subjects. If you have a leak, hire a plumber; if your car breaks down, hire a mechanic. Why should a book or technical paper be any different?

The professional term is Subject Matter Expert (SME). These specialists are often contracted for textbook chapters or content for ancillary products like student workbooks. Scientific volumes are rarely the sole effort of a lone individual and complete product lines sold to larger institutions involve teams of dozens of writers, editors and artists.

My own experience ranges from computer simulations to practical industrial laboratory experience. I have worked under major government research grants, privately funded institutions and commercial high-tech companies. I have also written and taught material for the primary, secondary and university level educational markets.
